An Easy Method to Cook Vegetables Using Frozen Ingredients

We all know that vegetables are an important part of a balanced diet. That’s why your diet should have a recommended daily portion of veggies. The quantity of fruits and vegetables required daily may vary according to gender and age. On average, every individual need 1-1 ½ cups of fruits and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables daily.

Most of the time we find it difficult to take the recommended diet because of our tough schedules. But frozen vegetables can help you in this regard. As frozen vegetables are easy on the budget and do not need extra effort because they are already prepared. You can simply bring the frozen veggies from the store that are displayed in frozen food display cabinets and cook when you need them.

Many people don’t prefer frozen vegetables because they transform into a soggy mess or turn mushy during cooking. But you need to realize that vegetables are frozen without preservatives to retain the flavor and nutrition. So, you also need to cook by using methods that retain nutrients and flavor of the food.

Cooking Time that Frozen Veggies Take:

You can cook frozen vegetables through different methods. That’s why the time required for cooking of frozen vegetables depends on the method you use. For example, if you roast the vegetables, it may take longer to get nice flavored veggies. But if you have a tough schedule, you can use different other methods that need only a few minutes of cooking.

Here are different and easy methods of cooking frozen vegetables.

Saute Frozen Vegetables:

Using a skillet to prepare vegetables is an easy and quick method. This method not only maintains taste but also retain the nutrients and texture of your veggies.

Directions:

To sauté the vegetables, bring the bag of frozen vegetables out of the freezer first. Then put the vegetables into a skillet and set the flame on medium to high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoon of olive or any other cooking oil to the pan. Stir the vegetables occasionally. Remember, you need to cook the vegetables uncovered. Cook the veggies for at least 6-7 minutes thoroughly and your vegetables are ready.

Grill Frozen Vegetables:

During summer vacation, if you want to serve something delicious and healthy, grilling vegetables is the best way. Frozen vegetables are perfect for barbecues.

Directions:

Take a vegetable basket and put frozen vegetables in it with a little bit of olive oil. You can also put veggies into tin foil. Then place the veggies on the grill and cook them on medium-high heat. To avoid burning and sticking, flip the vegetables throughout cooking.

Roast or Bake Frozen Veggies:

Another easy option for preparing frozen veggies to add to any meal is roasting or baking them. You can use your oven to roast the veggies.

Directions:

First you need to preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and then use olive oil to coat the roasting pan. Place the roasting pan in the oven before adding vegetables. A hot pan will help the veggies in thawing and cooking better. Then toss the vegetables with a small amount of olive oil and add them in the hot pan and cook for 20 minutes.
