Here are 5 ingredients that you need to make fluffy chocolate buttercream frosting:

Butter:

A perfect chocolate buttercream frosting is creamy and silky. But what makes it creamy and silky is butter. To make buttercream frosting, you will need 1.5 cup of unsalted butter at room temperature. If you keep your butter in the fridge, the best way to soften is to pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Make sure it doesn’t melt.
Start it by adding your softened butter into a large mixing bowl. Using the paddle attachment, mix it on low speed. Then put it up on high speed getting it to a nice white fluffy consistency.

Sugar:

Just like any other frosting, you can adjust the level of sweetness in your buttercream chocolate frosting by adding a little bit less sugar. Before adding sugar in the mixing bowl, get rid of clumps by just a little bit of sifting. Because if sugar bag has been open for a while, it got a little bit of moisture and it gets lumps. Sift a pound and a half of sugar in the mixing bowl. And mix it well.

Cocoa Powder:

You will need one-third of a cup of really nice cocoa powder. Because it's the main flavor. Sift it out before adding in the mixing bowl because cocoa will have a lot of lumps in it. There's a high-fat content in it. It's very important to sift your ingredients while making frosting otherwise your buttercream frosting will be ruined by clogs.

Vanilla Extract:

After adding sugar and Cocoa powder in the mixing bowl, add 1.5 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add your mixer in the bowl. You can use a tea towel to cover it up or if you want you can use the plastic attachment. Because a little bit of moisture always flies out while mixing. After every 2-3 minutes stop the mixer and scrape down the bowl to catch all the bits that the mixer doesn't get.

Melted Chocolate:

In the last, add your melted chocolate in the mixing bowl. You can use chocolate of your choice. Make sure your chocolate isn't hot but warm. Mix it on medium speed to make sure everything mixes well. After a couple of minutes, stop the mixer and scrape down the mixer again. Then mix on high speed for an extra couple of minutes. And your chocolate buttercream frosting is ready.
